Meet the Team - Mark Walters

We’re delighted to welcome Mark Walters to the Connect2Dorset team! Mark joins us as a Talent Partner, specialising in the recruitment of Social Care Workers across Adults' and Children’s Services.

We sat down with Mark to learn more about his background, his passion for recruitment, and what he’s most looking forward to in his new role.

Tell us about your working background

Before joining Connect2Dorset, I worked as a Recruitment Business Partner at Care South, where I managed end-to-end recruitment processes and developed effective talent acquisition strategies. My role involved close collaboration with hiring managers to identify workforce needs and deliver tailored recruitment solutions, while ensuring compliance and an excellent candidate experience.

I’m a strong advocate for building meaningful relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and believe in creating a smooth, positive journey for every candidate.

Before that, I spent two decades as Director at EMP Recruitment, specialising in the hospitality sector. My focus was on executive search and selection, using a personal and innovative approach to sourcing talent. Across my career, I’ve been committed to aligning organisational goals with recruitment excellence.

What is your role at Connect2Dorset?

I’m a Talent Partner, overseeing the recruitment of Social Care Workers across Adults' and Children’s Services.

What do you like about working in the recruitment industry?

I love that every day brings something different. Recruitment is full of challenges, but also opportunities to build strong relationships with hiring managers and candidates. Being able to offer advice and see positive outcomes, whether it’s helping someone take the next step in their senior career or supporting a candidate just starting out, is incredibly rewarding.

What are you most looking forward to about your new role?

Having spent several years in Social Care Recruitment, I’m really looking forward to this new challenge. It’s a chance to make a difference, not just to the candidates I work with, but to the people they go on to support. That’s what makes this sector so special.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I’m a big AFC Bournemouth supporter and love watching their matches. When I’m not cheering them on, you’ll usually find me walking my cockapoo, Charlie, along the River Stour.

Any top tips for jobseekers?

The job market is tough at the moment, so my advice would be to stay positive and do your research. Learn about the sector and the companies you’re applying to, and don’t be afraid to reach out to local employers directly. If you’re unsuccessful, try to learn from the feedback. Every interview is an opportunity to improve and get closer to that perfect role.
