About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a part-time Administrator to support the Fleet Services team within Dorset Council based in Charminster, Dorchester.
This is a varied administrative support role, ideal for someone who is organised, proactive, and confident working in a busy office environment. You will provide day-to-day administrative assistance to help ensure the smooth running of the Fleet Services department, supporting the wider team with accurate record keeping, communication, and general office duties.
The role is primarily based around a Friday shift, with the potential for additional hours up to 14 hours per week. Any additional hours would be worked consecutively alongside the Friday shift, either on a Thursday or Monday.
This temporary opportunity would suit someone with previous administration experience who enjoys working collaboratively and delivering excellent support services.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing general administrative support to the Fleet Services team
- Maintaining accurate records, databases, and filing systems
- Handling incoming calls, emails, and correspondence
- Assisting with scheduling, documentation, and data entry
- Supporting compliance and vehicle-related administration tasks
- Preparing reports, letters, and other documents as required
- Liaising with internal departments, suppliers, and contractors
- Supporting the team with ad hoc office duties and projects
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in an administrative or office support role
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to manage workload effectively and work independently
- Professional and reliable approach to work
- Experience working within a local authority or fleet environment would be advantageous but is not essential
