Hours: 25 hours per week, Term Time Only
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 07:00-09:30 and 15:00-17:30
Pay Rate: £13.05 per hour

The Role

Connect2Dorset are recruiting for two Mini Bus Drivers on behalf of Dorset Council to support school transport services in the Shaftesbury area.

This is a rewarding role where you will be responsible for transporting children safely to and from school during term time. Working split shifts, you will drive a 17-seat minibus or smaller vehicle, ensuring passengers travel safely, comfortably, and on time.

You will play a key role in supporting children and young people, maintaining the highest standards of safety, customer care, and professionalism at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely transport children to and from school across the Shaftesbury area.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and ensure vehicles remain roadworthy and clean.
• Provide a safe, caring, and professional service to all passengers.
• Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of passengers at all times.
• Assist passengers when boarding and leaving the vehicle where required.
• Support passengers with mobility needs, including wheelchair users where necessary.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns appropriately.
• Maintain accurate records in line with operating procedures.
• Comply with all relevant road traffic legislation and transport regulations.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A valid D1 (101), D1, or D category entitlement on your driving licence.
• A responsible, caring, and reliable approach to work.
• Excellent awareness of passenger safety and customer service.
• The ability to communicate effectively with children, parents/carers, and school staff.
• A good level of physical fitness to assist passengers as required, including supporting those with mobility needs.
• The ability to pass a driving assessment as part of the recruitment process.
• Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals is desirable but not essential.

Training and Compliance

Successful applicants will be required to complete:

• An Enhanced DBS check.
• A driving assessment.
• Mandatory induction and training prior to commencing duties.
